Within this report I will be writing about types different techniques which have been used when filming a music concert production when using Multi-Camera. For example I will be writing about the reasons of why a multi-camera production would take place in when filming a music video and the visual effect that may take place and how the production uses communication when entertaining the audience.
The reasons for using a multi camera production when filming a live music concert would be so the production would be able to gather a large range of shot the concert such as close ups of the singer and the band when playing the instruments. This form of production would also gather shot such as pan shots so that they are able to capture the audience experience so that the public at home are able to capture the full grasp of this live video. An example that I am using for this is the Glastonbury video where Oasis played back in 2004. The reason why I have used this as an example is because you are able to witness a wide range of shots that cover the action throughout the this performance. They would also how wide shots of all the band playing together so you re able to witness what is happening on stage. When filming this form of production all of the edits will be made live back at the studio where you would have the vision mixer taking place with the director behind them telling them which shot needs to be used on the main screen as they would have a television screen linked up to each camera so that the director is able to look over each shot back at the studio. Using Multi camera when filming a concert has a great advantage as you are able to chose from more than one shot, for example if a camera has a position that the director is not happy with the vision mixer would be able to change which camera is being used so that the director can then tell the camera operator what shot he would prefer with that camera.
When filming this form of production there is not much communication between the video and the audience as the music will be able to speak its words this this performance is all bout listening to the music and there wouldn't much information intended. Also within a music concert production the cameras are able to get up close to the action and wouldn't much restriction as other multi camera production so audience back at home are able to also know what is happening. At a live production like this they would sometimes within breaks head back to a studio or a quiet place on the site where they would have a presenter tell the audience back at home what would be coming up next and how they feeling about the performance up to now. The presenter would also have an interviewee with them who would be a by stander at the concert so that you would be able to get a true feel of how the public feel about the performance which has been shown.
The visual style which has been used throughout the form of multi camera when filming the music concert would be blue and white as they have flashing lights behind the band showing that to the public in front of them that this is where the action is taking place. When the song that is being placed is slow they change the paste of the lights to show the audience what kind of mood they should be taking place. As when the song is fast pasting the lighting will be flashing quite fast, this is when you will see the public jumping around. The colours that have been used throughout this performance reflect back on to the audience by showing that this band is a more rocky style as it is very dark. These colours are more male based as population would have more male than female in there even though that this band reaches out to all kinds of people as they sing about a life style.
The constraints when filming this form of multi camera when placed on location would be by the way how they wold have to look at the legal side of things as they would be filming the public they would have to ask everyone to sign an Actor release form so that they confirm for the production to be able to show their faces within the video for people to be able to see back at home when filming live. Another constraint for when filming on location would be timing as the director and the camera operator need to know where to be placed for each song so they wont miss a piece of footage that will be needed.
