Live sports analysis

Hello fellow internet users.

Within my report of the different techniques which are used throughout Multi-camera productions I will be writing about a Live Sport production such as a Football match and the different ranges of styles they have used within the production and how these forms of techniques are maintaining the viewers interest and the coverage of the action which has been shown.

The reasons for the use of a multi-camera production within a live sporting event would be so that the footage which has been captured throughout the event would have a range of different camera angles that will consist of shots such as a close up of the action for example within a football match they would have a close up of a footballer with the ball so that the audience are able to get a full feel as if they were there at the football match playing with all the players. Another shot that often will be used within this form of production would be a wide pan shot of the football field showing footage of all the players on the field and where about the ball is being played. All of these shots will have a live edit and would be edited in the studio where the vision mixer will take place as the director of the production will decide which shot will be used and when as they watch over the football match. Within a football match the event would have up to 24 cameras catching the action of the event, whether it is the football match taking place or a shot of the audeince showing their facial expressions.

When using the use of communication throughout a Football match production, they use a commentator. The use of a commentator throughout the match helps the public, for example if there are people in the audience that do not truly understand what is going on throughout the game the commentator explains everything that is happening and also goes through the statistics of the match. Another way how a Football match uses the use of communication would be at half time when they have the experts within the studio which will do retakes of the match and talk through what was happing during this time and what they thought of the techniques which were used throughout the game. A Football match will show visual graphics which will explain to the audience back at home when they play retakes of the match of where the ball way played, they also use graphic by circling the players and say who they are and whether they might have a coloured card or not, this is a form of communication for the audience which were not able to watch the game at the pitch itself.

The visual style which has been used throughout a football match would be more male influenced as they use a lot of green and blue colours throughout the studio and within the visual effects when explaining the game to the audience. This is because this form of production is more male orientated at this is it's target audience as not as many females watch the production. This is also part of maintaining the viewers interest as this form of multi camera has a very strong male eye towards it they have to manufacture for all sides as the cater for social classes C2 D and E, they try to keep things simple by keeping their audience within the loop so that they are able to concentrate on what is happening throughout the match.

The constraints of when the cameras are on location when filming the football match would be the way how they have to place the cameras as they have restrictions when it comes to the field as they are no able to run along the field with the cameras for safety reasons as this would become a massive hazard for the footballers as there will be many leads which are connected to the camera running across the field. This could cause the footballers to fall over when they are running and injuring themselves. Also this could cause the equipment to become damaged and break.
